We've been growing for 35 years.
There's always more to learn, and that's what's so exciting about genuine, progressive, martial arts.
Our founder, Denise Bailey, BA (Hons) Philosophy, trained originally with Mugendo, the system pioneered by Meiji Suzuki. We honour him to this day for his inspiration.
Denise, 7th Dan, European & World Champion kickboxer, is 'mother' to an expanding group of young, dedicated kickboxing and martial arts instructors of outstanding merit. Whatever your level, from beginner to seasoned martial artist, from 4 - 80 years old, you'll be welcome and looked after at Meiji Martial Arts in London.

"I've done 4 years Jiu Jitsu. I've actually done a lot of things. Weights and fitness training. Karate. Kickboxing. There's nothing like this place, though. Look around. You get it all here. Fantastic discipline, ultimate fitness, self-defence, positive benefits you take with you throughout your life. I'm totally hooked."

"Been with Coach Abel for 5 years now. Took me a year and a half to earn my Blue Belt. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is very demanding and detailed. I like that, because it means you really have to earn your belts. They don't give you your belt, you have to take it off them. You have to be ready and confident for the next one, so there are no illusions."

(formerly known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.
The relative strength of the opponents is made irrelevant by knowledge of the body's vital points. Maximum results are produced from what seems like minimal physical effort.
