I started my Kickboxing journey at the age of 10. I had no idea how it would turn out – at the start, you’re nervous and you don’t know what you’re doing. I guess it’s like writing a book - how it ends depends on how much you’re willing to write.
My younger self was quite shy, never one to project my voice, but here at Meiji I can truly say I found my own voice. Being here has given me confidence, not just inside the Dojo but in the outside world as well. I am a blue belt in Kickboxing and recently started my intriguing Jiu Jitsu journey. I have the ambition to enter Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu competitions in the near future.
Kickboxing has taught me to be resilient, unflappable and precise. Jiu jitsu has taught me to be more patient and to maintain composure at all times.
It is an honour to be part of such a caring community. So much more than a fight club, we are family here.
I have learned that the best advice to pass on is that no matter whether a situation is good or bad, just remain calm and do what needs to be done.
